Iggy Azalea made her major league debut a decade ago and has been hard at work on a fourth studio album, according to reports. However, the Australian artist took to social media to announce that she is no longer involved in music and is instead immersing herself in another creative career.
Speaking to X, formerly of Twitter, Iggy Azalea, 33, shared that her energy is moving towards design and creative direction over songwriting. In Azalea's view, this shift in career focus should come as no surprise to fans who have been following her work since she first burst onto the scene.
From X:
I know a lot of people have this idea that I was 'bullied away from music' and that's something I've always laughed at because I'll never be bullied out of anything!
Actually, I'm very stubborn.
I think at times I have resisted change within myself, purely because I don't like to be seen as a quitter.
In fact, what I've known for a long time is that I feel more passionate about design and creative direction than songwriting.
For many of you it will come as no shock to read this.
It shows in my work. Haha!
Jokes aside, I spend a lot more time on this side of things…because I'm more confident in it.
That's why I want to let you know that I'm not going to finish my album.
It's been on hiatus for a few months while I've been directing a different project and I haven't really felt like getting back into it.
I feel very happy and passionate in my day-to-day life when my mind is focused on that and so I want to stick to what is undeniably best for me.
Azalea added that she will be sharing some of her new creative work soon and apologized to her fans who have been waiting for new music.
