(aka Katie Crutchfield) has announced a new album, Tigers Blood, and shared his first single, “Right Back to It,” featuring MJ Lenderman. He has also announced some new tour dates. Tigers Blood out March 22 via ANTI-. Corbett Jones and Nick Simonite directed the “Right Back to It” video. Check it out below, followed by the tracklist and album art, as well as tour dates.
Crutchfield said of “Right Back to It” in a press release: “I wrote it backstage at Wolf Trap when I was opening for Jason Isbell and Sheryl Crow. I'm really interested in writing love songs that are gritty and anti-romantic . I wanted to make a song about the ebb and flow of a long love story. I thought it might feel non-traditional, but a little more in line with my experience of writing about feeling insecure or frustrated somehow internally, but always you find your way back to a new or an intimacy with the same person.”
Tigers Blood follows Saint Cloudwhich was #6 on the Top 100 Albums of 2020 list. In 2022 Crutchfield teamed up with Jess Williamson to form Plains and release their debut album. I walked with you in a waythrough ANTI-.
The new album also features Spencer Tweedy, along with Phil and Brad Cook. Brad Cook produced the album, which was recorded at Sonic Ranch in the border town of Tornillo, Texas. Brad Cook also worked Saint Cloud in the same studio.
