Activision is finally addressing the giant elephant in the room regarding Call of Duty: its huge download sizes.

The Verge exhibitions that Activision will now be split up war zone from the default download for annual titles. Players can expect this change to begin on August 21st when Season 5 Reloaded arrives.
So when you hit the download button, you can opt in if you want war zone be a part of this download.
You will also have the option to download war zone alone if that's what you want. Other quality of life improvements also come with the arrival of Season 5 Reloaded.

With Season 5 Reloaded, Activision also says it will rely more heavily on texture streaming, and players will be able to choose between “optimized” (the default) or “minimal” streaming. In mid-October, Activision plans to unveil a new user interface for browsing Call of Duty games.

With this news, Activision admits that you will need to download a large update that will be part of Reloaded Season 5. The update will “reorganize game files and add new technology” to “pave the way for the full player interface.”
Once the update is complete, Call of Duty Gamers can expect the game's footprint on their consoles to shrink in the future.
With the new update, Activision says this Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 it will be a “smaller download on boot from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.”

Activision has not shared the specific download size, but states that the numbers shown in the pre-order information do not reflect the “download size or disc footprint” for the game.
