One of the OG trainers returns The voice.
NBC announced Wednesday (June 5) that Adam Levine will return to the big red chairs for Season 27 in the spring of 2025, six years after he left the show in 2019. Additionally, Kelsea Ballerini will coach for the first time time.
Levine and Ballerini will join Michael Bublé and John Legend. Season 27's coaching panel will follow Season 26, which will include Bublé, Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani.
In May 2019, the Maroon 5 frontman shared a heartfelt essay announcing his departure from The Voice after 16 seasons. Levine first took his seat in a giant red chair on April 26, 2011, and led three singers to the winner's circle over eight years.
“About 8 years ago, [executive producer] Mark Burnett convinced us to sign up for this show where you sit in a big red chair with your back turned by the singers on stage,” Levine wrote on Facebook at the time. “First thanks must go to Mark. We had no idea what we were doing or where it was going. After the first day of shooting, I sat there, amazed. I said to myself “there is some magic here. Something is definitely going on.' It continued to be a life-shaping experience that will be close to my heart forever.”
Levine briefly returned to The voice in 2023 to appear after Maroon 5 announced “Middle Ground” — the band's first release since 2021.
Ballerini is also no stranger The voice,“He previously served as a Battle Advisor Season 16 and filled in as a coach during Season 20, both times for Team Kelly.
