aespa achieves their fifth attempt at the top 10 charts Advertising signThe top selling album chart as the new K-pop female quartet Armageddon – The 1st album debuts at No. 2 on the chart dated July 20. All five of the act's chart entries have debuted in the top 10.
Also in the top 10 of Taylor Swift's latest album sales chart Department of Tormented Poets scores a sixth week at No. 1 (and a 154% sales increase), Selena's 30th anniversary reissue and first vinyl pressing Amor Prohibido pushes it back up the chart to No. 4 and Agust D (aka BTS' SUGA) sees his D-Day The album re-enters No.8 after its vinyl release.
Advertising signThe Top Albums Sales chart ranks the best-selling albums of the week based on traditional album sales only. The history of the chart dates back to May 25, 1991, the first week Advertising sign began charting electronically tracked track count information from SoundScan, now Luminate. Net album sales was the sole metric used by the Billboard 200 album chart through the list dated December 6, 2014, after which that chart changed to a methodology that combines album sales with track-equivalent album units and album-equivalent units flow. Armageddon arrives with 18,000 copies sold in the US in the week ending July 11, according to Luminate. The album was widely released on CD on July 5, having previously been available as a digital download and via streaming services. CD sales account for nearly all of the 18,000 sales in the week ending July 11, and the set was issued in eight CD collector's editions, all of which featured paper merchandise.
Meanwhile, Swift's Department of Tormented Poets holds No. 1 on Top Albums with 90,000 copies sold – up 154% for the week. CD sales are at 67,000 (up 127%), digital album download sales are at 19,000 (up 1,266%) and vinyl sales are at 4,000 (down 10%).
Department of Tormented PoetsThe album's weekly total was boosted in part by sales from Swift's official online store, which restocked seven previously released CD variants of the album (including a signed edition). The updated items were available for purchase for a few hours on Sunday, June 7th and shipped shortly thereafter. In addition, Swift released three new digital album download variants of the album on Thursday, July 11, sold exclusively at her online store for $4.99 each and available for purchase that day only. Each contained the original standard album listing of 16 songs, along with a bonus live acoustic track, recorded during her tour at The Eras in Stockholm (“Guilty as Sin?”, “How Did It End?” or “Peter “).
The former No1 of ATEEZ Golden Hour: Part 1 rises 7-3 with nearly 13,000 sold (up 3%).
Following its 30th anniversary reissue, Selena's Amor Prohibido re-enters top album sales at No. 4 with 11,000 sales – its best sales week since 1995. The set, which was originally released in 1994 and spent 20 weeks at No. 1 on Top Latin Albums in 1994-95, was reissued on 4 July in digital and physical formats, including the first pressing on vinyl.
Amor debuts at No. 1 on the Vinyl Albums chart with 10,000 sales on wax – Selena's best-ever sales week on vinyl. It is her second leader on the 13-year Vinyl Albums chart. The album was available in four vinyl variants – a standard clear color version, a Target pink exclusive (containing a poster), a Spotify exclusive coke bottle version, and a picture disc variant sold through Selena's website.
Amor It was also reissued on CD and as a cassette, the latter being sold exclusively at Selena's store.
By Billie Eilish Hit hard and soft rises 9-5 on top album sales with 10,000 (down 12%), Chappell Roan's The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess steps 8-6 with 9,000 (down 26%) and Zach Bryan The Great American Bar Scene shoots 21-7 after its first full week of tracking, with 8,500 sold (up 66%). The set was released on July 4, the last day of the chart's July 13-dated tracking week, and sold 5,000 copies that day (allowing it to debut at No. 21). The album is available for purchase as a digital download only. Its CD and vinyl are due out on October 11th.
The top of Agust D's chart D-Day re-enters the album sales chart at No. 8 with nearly 8,000 sold since the set's July 5 release. Rounding out the top 10 are a pair of Swift's former No. 1s, including Lover jumps 19-9 with just over 5,000 sold (albeit down 3%) and 1989 (Taylor Edition) vaults 20-10 with almost 5,000 (down 5%).
