2K reveals A'ja Wilson is the highest rated player in the WNBA and what players can expect from The W at NBA 2K25.
As expected, the Las Vegas Aces superstar, gold medal winning athlete, WNBA Champion/MVP and NBA 2K25 Cover athlete A'ja Wilson can now add another accomplishment to her ever-growing list.
Thanks to its overall rating of 99 in NBA 2K25Wilson is now the highest rated player in the WNBA NBA 2K history.
Wilson's rating was one of several promised announcements, with 2K sharing details about new features coming to The W game mode. These features will allow players to take their superstar in the making to WNBA greatness.
Distributed by Felicia Steenhouse, Senior Producer at Visual Concepts, in the latest developer calendar, players can now look forward to starting their journey and competing for the title of Rookie of The Year 2024 against Angel Reese and Caitlin Clarke.
The W in NBA 2K25 it will also feature fully voiced press interviews, a new Mentorship feature and other improvements to The W Online.
“This WNBA season has been electric, showcasing incredible talent, especially from the dynamic rookies making their mark on the legends. we wanted NBA 2K25 to reflect this action-packed season and show how The W wants to chase victory,” said Steenhouse. This year, we deepened the immersion and opportunities for players to make their mark in the WNBA as we partnered with the league to scan more WNBA players, making it as real as possible. We've even reworked our engine to ensure smaller details like eyelashes and the increased hairstyle library are properly represented.”
A full breakdown of W's new features:
- Pursuit of Greatness: Players compete to climb the all-time ranks in the new Pursuit of Greatness story as they build a legacy to eclipse the greatest players in WNBA history and attempt career-defining moments along the way. As the overarching narrative of their first season, players will be thrown into the exciting 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year race as they compete against the likes of Angel Reese, Caitlin Clark, and Kamilla Cardoso. As players bolster their resumes with on-field accomplishments such as championships and awards, their progress will be depicted in detailed charts that show where they are in their careers and how they stack up against the next player on the GOAT list they're chasing.
- Press conferences: For the first time, press conferences are coming to The W, allowing players to shape the narrative of their careers and the league as a whole. Press conferences will take place after important moments and games such as breaking a record, winning an award such as Rookie of the Year or surpassing a career milestone. When you compete with someone on the GOAT list, like NBA 2K25 cover athlete A'ja Wilson, the questions asked can vary depending on a player's performance, whether it's good or bad.
- The W Online. W Online has moved to a stunning new outdoor court in a forest grove, and players can engage in 3v3 multiplayer games amidst a beautiful backdrop of redwood trees. Additionally, Weekly Community Goals are back NBA 2K25 and require a collective effort from all players to succeed. These targets now track new stats such as the number of green shots and teammate scores.
- Game Changers Mentorship: The W Online at NBA 2K25 builds on Game Changer status—earned by contributing to weekly community goals—with a new feature called

Along with Wilson becoming the highest rated player in the WNBA, we also found out who will be right behind her on that list. Right behind her is Breanna Stewart of the Liberty at 97, Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx at 95, Alyssa Thomas of the Connecticut Sun also at 95 and Brittney Griner of the Phoenix Mercury at 94.
The ratings for this year's crop of WNBA rookies have also been revealed. Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark tied for first place, earning a total score of 90.
Angel Reese's Chicago Sky teammate Kamilla Cardoso, Rickea Jackson of the Los Angeles Sparks and Cameron Brink round out the 80-rated list, which is subject to change as the WNBA season begins its second half.
NBA 2K25 The season is fast approaching and the final game in the long running basketball video game series will be on September 6th.
