Houston Hottie's third album is out just in time for summer.
It's going to be a Hot Girl Summer. Megan Thee Stallion dropped her highly anticipated Megan album Friday (June 28), which is her third LP.
Between scoring a solo No. 1 Hot 100 hit with “Hiss” and trekking across North America in Hot Girl Summer tour2024 was already a fruitful year for Meg.
Megan boasts 18 total tracks with features from fellow Houston legends UGK, GloRilla, Victoria Monet, Big KRIT, Kyle Richh and more.
“This is the music I would want if I wasn't Megan Thee Stallion. I don't want to say that I step into other genres. I just touch other sounds. But she's still very Megan Thee Stallion. I won't feel like I went so far left. It's going to be real for me,” Megan said tour-mental-health” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener nofollow”>L'OFFICIEL of the design. “You're almost like, 'I wouldn't have thought he would have rapped about that, but that sounds great.'
The 29-year-old has a pair Hot Girl Summer tour dates left in America (Atlanta and Charlotte) before crossing the pond for the European leg in July.
Megan Thee Stallion will set the tone for the BET Awards when she opens the show on Sunday night (June 30) with a live performance.
The album serves as a “rebirth” for Megan with the first project to arrive since the Tory Lanez shooting trial ended with the singer being sentenced to a decade behind bars last August.
Advertising sign ran inside Megan upon its arrival on streaming services, and we've ranked all 18 tracks from the LP below.
-
“Down Stairs DJ”
Honorable CNOTE brings an ethereal feel behind the boards for “Down Stairs DJ”. Meg's rhymes are very fast, leaving the beat in the dust playing catch-up. It's more of a lyrical exercise than an album standout, meaning that the love story has more of a role in the work.
-
“Find”
Probably the craziest track on the whole album. “Find Out” turns the heat up a few notches with Megan Thee Stallion unashamed of her carnal desires and celebrating her voluptuous figure. “How from imagining you to make this dick disappear/Tryin' to search and find out,” he raps. Meg makes it sound effortless, but “Find Out” climbs toward the middle of the pack.
-
“Mamushi” Feat. Yuki Chiba
Megan is involved in the Japanese rap scene and has probably opened herself up to another sector of hip-hop fans with her bilingual bars on “Mamushi”, which recruits Tokyo's Yuki Chiba (Kohh). The Houston rapper's Duolingo lessons are paying off as she whips up some Japanese bars herself. She really goes all out on this album and “Mamushi” is a prime example of her versatility and proving that no challenge is too big.
-
“Boa”
Megan Thee Stallion continued with serpentine-themed singles with “Boa” serving as the third and final pre-album release, but the Gwen Stefani-sampling track failed to match the success or cultural impact of “Hiss” or ” Cobra.” Although her artistry pulls her in different creative directions, Meg will always be keeping hip-hop first. “I do for TikTok bh, I'm really hip-hop,” he proclaims.
-
“Figueroa”
The ominous production sets Megan up to let the helicopter sing. She bends her pen and fans are speculating that the first verse finds the Houston hottie growling at Iggy Azalea, who i wrote a letter to support Tory Lanez during the shooting trial. “White f—x on the internet debunking Meg/ Black ghostwriter, what the f—kn—s think,” Meg raps.
-
“Otaku Hot Girl”
Megan loves her anime and “Otaku Hot Girl” seems to be inspired by her trip to Japan and her passion for series like Jujutsu Kaisen. The star-studded production seems reminiscent of a similar sound to Doja Cat's “Juicy.” Thee Stallion really showcases her entire repertoire throughout Meganand this is another notch on Gucci's belt.
-
“BAS” Feat. Kyle Rich
41's Kyle Rich shows up for an unexpected rap collaboration Megan. They combine opposing currents better than they looked while speeding up the tempo around '80s Tina Marie “Out On A Limb” sample. Meg throws dirt on her husband, but then turns the mirror and honestly admits that she's no angel on the relationship front either. “He's lying to me and I'm like, I guess we're not both,” she admits, coining the song title acronym “BOA.”
-
“Rattle”
Meghan isn't leaving track No. 2 when it comes to haters. She raps with another level of swagger and clearly had things to get off her chest with this project – a pivotal moment in her burgeoning career. It's the raucous second verse that steals the show here and has fans buzzing about who exactly was in Meg's sights.
“Damn, b—h, it's been four years/ You worryin' about your husband and your kid/Your life must be boring if you still rememberin' “the shit we did/ And I ain't worryin' about the Bitter b—h link-up/ Y'all ho– earned them seats in the fan club/ Ain't have no tea on me, that ho thinks she TMZ,” he says.
Fans were divided on who was getting snipped. Some of the Barbz felt Nicki Minaj was attacked while others believed that the bars were actually shooting to her ex-BFF Kelsey Harriswho was with Meg the night Tory Lanez shot her in 2020.
-
“Cobra”
Megan saved the grungy “Cobra” for last as the official album approaches, but it was really her first statements that led to her “renaissance” era (out in November 2023). The 29-year-old is an open book – raw and unfiltered – as she reveals the scars she's suffered from the loss of her parents, broken relationships, struggles with substance abuse, her deteriorating mental health and more.
-
“broke his heart”
Tay Keith and Megan Thee Stallion are definitely a duo we need to hear more about. Sampling Jeezy's inspirational 'I Love It' is the musical equivalent of slugging a Red Bull. Meg has broken a few hearts over the years and is ready to test the relationship waters again. Unfortunately, the short royals are out of luck as she prefers her men to be roughly over six feet. “F—k the short talk, I like my n—a 6'6,” he raps. Meg says she's done with rappers and is looking to date a jock. Since he's spurning the New York Knicks, maybe MSG's newest star Mikal Bridges (6'7″) will be enough?
-
“Accent” Feat. GloRilla
At this point, no one would be against the idea of Megan Thee Stallion and her tour mate GloRilla joining forces for an EP or full-length project together. The sludgy production takes a backseat as Meg brags about being “fatter” than the country accent. “Accent” probably won't reach the commercial heights of the braggadocios “Wanna Be,” but it's a worthy follow-up.
-
“Paper Together” Feat. UGK
An unreleased posthumous verse from the legendary Pimp C steals the show here. Megan has long paid tribute to one of her rap heroes, so it had to be a time to bring the late UGK icon to a dirty southern record. Juicy J directs the crisp production, while the Houston Generations push a message of financial literacy. “Rest in peace mama—-g legend Pimp C/ Often imitated, never replicated/ Highly regarded,” Meg gushes to give Pimp his flowers.
-
“Moody Girl”
“Moody Girl” is exactly what the title implies. Thee Stallion lifts her rapper pattern to take a look at Megan Pitt, who opens up about the relatable feeling of never being satisfied at times in life, even when the conditions for perfect success should be created. With all the turmoil of the past few years, it seems Meg is vulnerably admitting that she's still going through the motions of a superstar rapper, but isn't emotionally available to indulge in all that the superstar life has to offer.
-
“Whistle”
After hearing what everyone had to say throughout the Tory Lanez shooting trial, it was Megan's turn to speak and she didn't hold back. The Houston native came out of the gates rocking the fiery “Hiss” to set the tone for her album and let the rap game know what kind of time she was having. Fans ran wild with speculation that Thee Stallion took subliminal shots during “Hiss” at Nicki Minaj, Drake, Tory Lanez and more. Between the strong rhymes and the buzz surrounding the track, “Hiss” earned Meg a solo debut at the top of the Hot 100.
-
“Miami Blue”
An uncredited guest appearance from Big KRIT will always play well with the rap crowd, especially those who grew up in the blog age. From Texas to Mississippi, there's something in the water that's leading to hordes of fat women walking around, and Meg and KRIT are on the case. Unlike some collaborations in hip-hop, “Miami Blue” doesn't feel forced at all, as both rappers seem to enjoy taking their turn lyrically before passing the baton.
-
“Worthy”
Megan makes a sharp right turn into pop fantasyland. The guitar chords create a playground for Meg to take her foot off the gas and test out more of her singing voice as she brings her Texas pride to the table. “Worthy” sounds like something Katy Perry would have topped the charts circa 2010.
-
“Spin” Feat. Victoria Monet
Megan made Victoria Monét right at home with the sultry “Spin” built around the Grammy-winning singer's honeyed vocals. Thee Stallion hits on Tina Snow's alter-ego and things get steamy as the duo leave the guys wondering if what they're looking at on the pole is real or fake. Reminiscent of her flow on 2019's Ariana Grande-assisted “Monopoly,” Monét's angelic song leaves listeners in a trance before Meg returns for a knockout punch.
-
“Where are the GIRLS?”
This is for the strip mall. Meg and LilJu reunite for another smash hit as she slows down the beat with a banging beat reminiscent of something that had dance rap fans and southerners gasping in the 2000s and '10s. Ju took it back to the grapevine when he sampled Kansas City's Kstylis' 2013 regional anthem “Lick me down.” When the dust settles on Meg's third LP, “Where Them Girls At?” it could be the song that ultimately defines the album. One thing is for sure, he is sure to be a prize when he hits the stage again on tour.
