The star has had a complicated but ultimately storied run with the Recording Academy.
In 2023, Beyoncé made history when she became the most awarded artist in Grammy history — but her complicated relationship with the Recording Academy dates back more than two decades.
At the turn of the millennium, the superstar scored her first nod set as part of Destiny's Child, after which she would go on to consistently rack up double-digit wins and even more nominations following her stunning solo debut in 2003. When she made history exactly 20 years later securing her 32nd win (for Best Dance/Electronic Recording for the Billboard Hot 100 top single “Break My Soul”), she surpassed the previous record held by the late classical maestro Sir Georg Solti to become the winningest female artist of all time .
Even so, the title of “Grammy Love” doesn't quite fit Beyoncé. Despite her stellar run at the awards show, the academy has under-recognized her in its three main categories: album, record and song of the year. At the time of her historic 32nd win in 2023, she had only won in one of those categories to date, having won song of the year more than a decade earlier for “Single Ladies” in 2010.
Even so, Beyoncé remains one of the Recording Academy's biggest success stories. To celebrate, Bulletin board has compiled a complete timeline of each of her Grammy nods — a list that seems to grow longer every year, so keep checking back each nomination season for updates.
From 2000 to now, see every time Bey went for a golden gramophone—and whether or not she won—below.
