Women's History Month is here and we're celebrating, Advertising sign has compiled a list of all female No. 1 hits on the Hot Latin Songs chart since 2015. The chart ranks the most popular Latin songs of the week by combining airplay, streaming and digital sales data.
But first, let's look back to 2012 when icons Gloria Estefan and Paulina Rubio hit No. 1 on the coveted chart. The former debuted and reached No. 1 with “Hotel Nacional” and the latter with “Me Gustas Tanto”. For more than three years, female representation was rare at the top of the Latin charts until Maná's 'Mi Verdad', where Shakira accompanied them. The following year, Shak's “Chantaje” (featuring Maluma) debuted and reached No. 1 on the chart dated November 19, 2016, where it reigned for 11 weeks.
Like Estefan, Rubio and Shak, other Latinos have done it Advertising sign history.
Karol G and Nicki Minaj's “Tusa” became the first song to debut at No. 1 in 2019 and the first two-female lead to open at the top of the chart since its inception in 1986. With “Telepatia “, Kali Uchis became the first unaccompanied female soloist to reach No.1 since 2012. Becky G and Karol G's “Mamiii” hit No.1 in 2022, followed by Karol's solo smash “Provenza” which became the first woman to replace herself at No. 1 on the chart.
Last year was a big one for artists like Shakira and Karol G. Shakira hit No. 1 with “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” tying Bad Bunny for the fourth-most No. 1s on the list, and both with 12. As for Karol G, she scored three No. 1s: “TQG” with Sakira, “Mi Ex Tenía Razón” and “QLona” with the help of Peso Pluma. Meanwhile, Kali Uchis is the only woman to top the rankings so far this year.
