Ananda Lewis she made her name in the industry as a television personality and MTV VJ, along with other endeavors over the past two decades. In a recent conversation on CNN, Ananda Lewis shared that she now has stage IV breast cancer and urges others to seek professional treatment.
Ananda Lewis, 51, participated in a candid roundtable discussion with CNN's Stephanie Elam and Sara Sidner, the latter of whom is currently battling Stage III breast cancer. The conversation begins with light banter between the trio and Lewis revealing that he found out about her diagnosis in 2018.
Instead of following the recommended double mastectomy her doctors suggested, Lewis says she turned to physical therapy and tried homeopathic remedies to treat her cancer. As Elam explained to the panel via a segment of the debate, the treatment plan that Lewis himself sponsored worked for a while, but it did not eradicate the cancer from her body.
“My plan at first was to flush excess toxins out of my body. I felt like my body is smart, I know it's true. Our bodies are exquisitely made,” Lewis explained. “I decided to keep my tumor and try to get it out of my body in a different way. Looking back on it, I'm like, “You know what? Maybe I should.' “
Sidner, 52, went on to say that she opted to have a double mastectomy earlier this year to deal with the issue right away. She also shared that her diagnosis has influenced her to live more boldly and freely.
According to a 2022 article written by American Cancer SocietyBlack women are more likely to die from breast cancer than their white counterparts, although black women have lower breast cancer diagnoses.
