Sepultura is currently in the middle of its farewell tour, an ongoing celebration of the Brazilian band's 40th anniversary that is expected to run through 2026.
The thrash veterans are pulling out all the stops for their final tour, recording a live album that will feature 40 different songs from 40 different cities, an impressive feat considering the group went through a drummer change with Eloy Casagrande leaving for Slipknot just before of the tour. .
Veteran guitarist Andreas Kisser spoke about the tour in a new interview, revealing plans for a final Sepultura in São Paulo, Brazil, sometime in 2026. He also extended an invitation to founding members, brothers Max and Igor Cavalera, to join to the band on stage during that special farewell show.
“We like to invite all the former members, including the Cavalera brothers,” Kisser told the YouTube channel. Passion Moshpit. “Let's see what happens. “We are working for that, to have a great celebration for the fans.”
The guitarist continued, acknowledging the acrimony that led the Cavalera brothers to initially split from Sepultura years ago: “We don't care who's right or who's wrong. We will never get to that point. [Laughs] We have different points of view and different perspectives on the same historical events and stuff. So let's play, let's have a good time for the fans, for us, for ourselves, and really close out these wonderful 43 or 44 years, whatever it is at that moment, at peace with ourselves…”
Max left the band in 1996 and formed Soulfly, while Igor left Sepultura in 2006 when the brothers formed their project Cavalera Conspiracy.
While the brothers and Sepultura went their separate ways, Max and Igor still celebrate the musical legacy of the band they formed in 1984, revisiting classic Sepultura material and reimagining the band's early albums with newly recorded covers.
