Anitta plans first official North American tour in support of 'Funk Generation'

Brazilian superstar Anitta has announced a world tour in support of her upcoming album Funk Generationwhich will include her first proper North American tour.

The North American leg of the Baile Funk Experience tour will kick off on May 18th at Salon LA in Mexico City and wrap up on June 2nd at the Brooklyn Paramount in New York City. Anitta's itinerary will also include stops in Miami, Orlando, Boston, Toronto and Chicago. (While this marks Anitta's first official North American tour, she has played several one-off shows and festivals here in recent years, including Coachella in 2022.)

tickets go on sale for all shows on April 12th at 10am. local time (except for the Mexico City concert, which will go on sale April 11 at 10 a.m. local time). There will also be several different pre-sales, starting tomorrow, April 9th. Full information is available at Anitta's website.

After Anitta's North American tour, she will play a few shows in South America before heading to the UK and Europe. The run concludes on July 8 in Ibiza, Spain.

Anitta is about to be released Funk Generation on April 26 via Republic Records/Universal Music Latin Entertainment. The album marks her sixth studio effort and will follow in 2022 Editions of Me. In a recent interview with Rolling rockthe musician spoke about how a cancer scare in 2022 forced her to overhaul her management and label teams so she could focus on making an album of Brazilian funk (also known as 'funk carioca' or 'baile funk') — a frenzied mix of hip-hop, African rhythms and electronic music.

“I thought I was going to die,” he said. “And I said, 'You know what? I'm going to make an album for myself in case it's the last thing I do — not worrying about what happens after the album, not worrying about whether the album is going to be good, whether people are going to like it, whether it's going to to be on the charts”.
