The 2024 Tony Awards will take place on June 16
Ariana DeBose made an impressive debut hosting the Tony Awards in 2022. When she returned in 2023, it was an unscripted, off-hand night in the midst of the writers' strike. Now, the actress and singer plans to host the show celebrating Broadway for the third year in a row.
“I couldn't pass up the opportunity to host the Tonys once again at Lincoln Center,” DeBose said in a statement. “I'm excited to work with the team to create an incredible celebration of this Broadway season's achievements for our community and everyone at home.”
In addition to hosting, DeBose will choreograph the show's opening number and serve as a producer on the show. Last year's opening number was choreographed by Karla Garcia and featured DeBose doing a Broadway dance tribute.
The 2024 Tony Awards will air live on June 16 on CBS and Paramount+. It marks the first year the event will be held in the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
“We are incredibly honored to welcome Tony Award-nominated actress Ariana DeBose as this year's host for Broadway's biggest night, taking place for the first time at the iconic Lincoln Center,” Heather Hitchens, president and CEO of the American Theater Wing and Jason Laks. , interim president of the Broadway League, shared. “Ariana's unique sense of artistry, creativity and talent continues to elevate the show and captivate candidates and viewers alike.”
Nominations for the 2024 Tony Awards will be announced on Tuesday, April 30, covering the 2023 to 2024 Broadway season.
