Ariana Grande loves her Nonna! The pop superstar took to Instagram on Tuesday (April 16) to celebrate her grandmother Marjorie Grande's chart-topping achievement.
“Celebrating the one and only, most beautiful Nonna who has made history as the biggest person to ever appear on the @billboard Hot100,” Grande he wrote next to a photo of Nonna holding her Hot 100 plaque. “We love you and thank you.”
With the arrival of “Ordinary Things” (from Grande's album Eternal sunshineat No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100, 98-year-old Nonna becomes the longest-charting artist ever to chart, dating back to the chart's inception on August 4, 1958.
Featured as a featured artist on “Ordinary Things,” Nonna claims the record from the late Fred Stobaugh, who was 96 when “Oh Sweet Lorraine,” billed by Green Shoe Studio with Jacob Colgan (the the song's singer) and Stobaugh (the writer), spent a week on the Hot 100 dated September 14, 2013, at No. 42.
“Ordinary Things” closes with a clip of Nonna sharing life advice while reflecting on her relationship with her late husband, Frank. “Never go to bed without a kiss goodnight,” shares Nonna—who is also credited as co-writing the song. “This is the worst thing you can do. never, ever do that. And if you don't feel comfortable doing that, you're in the wrong place – get out.”
