Ariana Grande she puts criticism on her speaking voice. Following an excerpt from her recent interview with Penn Badgley's Podcrushed The podcast began circulating online — thanks to fans pointing out how drastically she changes her tone and tempo at one point — and the pop star explained on Tuesday (June 18) why her change in tone is completely natural.
In one TikTok post In the interview clip, Grande starts off talking about recording new music at a lower pitch before suddenly switching to a higher register. “The voice change??” the user who uploaded the video caption.
In responses, however, the “Thank U, Next” singer herself jumped in to put an end to other commenters who accused her of faking the way she speaks, noting that her higher pitch comes from “habit” and “she talks like that. for two years” while playing Glinda on set Bad.
“And also vocal health,” he continued. “I intentionally change my vocal placement (high / low) often depending on how much I sing.”
The musician also pointed out, “I've always done that BYE.”
The interview clip isn't the first time fans have noticed a change in Grande's speaking voice, though it may be the last now that she's clarified. On March, similar reviews she was singled out for her higher pitch when she performed at the 2024 Oscars with her Bad Her co-star Cynthia Erivo, although the two-time Grammy winner was open about her transformation in preparation for the role of Glinda.
“Preparing for the auditions was like six months – voice lessons every day, acting lessons every day,” she said. The Zach Sang Show on February. “I trained every day … to transform my voice, even – like my singing voice – everything about me, I had to deconstruct to prove to them that I could deal with that other person.”
But while some people focused on her speaking patterns, many fans were more excited about Grande's revelation Podcrushed that she has more new music on the way — possibly in the form of a deluxe edition of her Billboard 200 chart-topping album Eternal sunshine. “I was living in the studio,” he said on the show. “I went to the studio the day after the Met [Gala] and stayed there for 10 days. I have written a lot, and maybe more. I want to do a deluxe at some point.”
