Seismic Spring Lite once again electrified the vibrant city of Austin, Texas, as dance music enthusiasts from near and far gathered at The Concourse Project for a weekend of unforgettable experiences.
A little brother to RealMusic's esteemed Seismic Dance Event, festival organizers celebrated its second year with the promise of more to come. This two-day extravaganza serves as a prelude to the festival season and the main event scheduled for November.
The appeal of The Concourse Project lies not only in its prestige, but also in its excellent production and effective design. Festival-goers are immediately immersed in the experience when they enter the festival and, best of all, there's no hassle of traveling long distances between stages, amenities and vendors – Concourse is an intimate venue run by an experienced team who know how to put together a big show.
The festivities began in style as attendees gathered on the patio, soaking in the palpable energy that permeated the Austin air. Among our first highlights was an insightful conversation with SCRIPT, formerly known as Kill Script, who shared insights on his rebranding journey and his addition to the Encode Talent roster.
“It's always been the idea to change the name,” SCRIPT said. EDM.com. “Having the word 'kill' in the name is a limiting thing for the world, so it's always been the plan to change the name and getting the offer from Encode seems like the right time to do it.”
Their electrifying sets on both the Mainstage and the Patio Stage set the tone for a night filled with boundless energy.
Day 1 also focused on female talent, with Brina Knauss and local sensation Jenna Shaw wowing audiences with their magnetic performances. The Mainstage came to life with the soulful sounds of Chris Avantgarde, whose evocative set served as a poignant reminder to embrace the present moment free from the limitations of digital distractions.
The crescendo of the evening came with the legendary Armin van Buuren taking center stage with a huge smile on his face, wowing the crowd with a three-hour show.
As attendees arrived for Day 2, the anticipation was unmistakable. The day began with EDM.com Class of 2022 star Qrion commanding the main stage with his hypnotic house beats and infectious energy before joining forces with Cristoph for a stunning b2b set at The Patio.
Cristoph's masterful techno odyssey on the main stage also captivated us, and as the night wore on and the rain threatened to fall, but never harder than a drizzle, we headed backstage to meet up with Mark Richards, one half of the DJ duo Solardo.
Unfortunately, bandmate James Eliot was unable to join due to visa issues. Speaking with Richards, we learned where the first two crossed paths at Pirate Radio years ago and the cool stuff they bought with their first check earned from music.
From there we danced happily until the evening, the peak of which came when the final set of the weekend, MEDUZA B2B James Hype, took the stage.
They opened with a sublime vocal interpolation of Roland Clark's “DJ's Prayer” before taking us on a journey through a fascinating mix of their numerous house hits. After mesmerizing the crowd for two hours, the fabulous beats finally had to come to an end, which they did with a cover of Hype's beloved song, “Ferrari.”
Said and done, Seismic Spring Lite 2024 exceeded all expectations. As echoes of the weekend's euphoria linger, attendees can anticipate high-quality videos and condensed sets to be posted on the Concourse Project. youtube page.
Promising yet another chapter in the rich tapestry of Austin's vibrant music scene, tickets are now available for RealMusic's flagship. Seismic Dance Event 7.0, scheduled for November 15 to 17.
