Back number “to new lovers” returns to No. 1 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100, dated September 18, marking its second week at the top.
The theme song of the drama series Umi no Hajimari (“beginning of the sea”) was released digitally on July 15 and reached No. 1 on the chart dated July 24 after topping downloads (24,432 units) and radio airplay and reaching No. 4 on streaming (7,532,578 weekly streams ). The veteran three-piece's latest hit slipped 5-7-8-9-14-16 on the chart before returning to the top ten last week at No. 7. The CD single dropped on September 11 and brought the track back to the top position with 25,170 copies sold in its first week. Other metrics for the soulful ballad are also up, with streams up 102%, radio up 489%, video views up 154% and karaoke up 112% each week.
The “Maaikka!” of WEST. debuts at No. 2. The 23rd single from the seven-piece boy band who celebrated their tenth anniversary on April 23 has sold 246,731 copies. The track also charted at No. 36 on radio and No. 73 on video.
Ms. GREEN APPLE's “Lilac” slips to No. 3 after notching its second week at No. 1 last week. While it drops a few notches in the tally, overall scores for the track are up, with downloads at 102%, radio at 193% and video at 101% compared to last week.
Bowing at No. 4 is OCHA NORMA's 'Chihayaburu'. The Hello! The group's fourth single Project girl sold 108,690 copies and reached No. 4 in sales, while reaching No. 19 on downloads and No. 100 on radio.
HKT48's 18th single “Boku wa yatto kimi wo shinpai dekiru” (“I can finally worry about you”) debuts at No. 5, selling 152,017 copies to reach No. 2 in sales, but did not enter the top 100 in none of the other metrics of the chart methodology.
Elsewhere on the chart, the Southern All Stars' “Jeanne d'Arc ni yoroshiku” debuts at No. 11. The theme song for TBS Sports 2024 topped downloads and radio this week.
