Cork-born alternative disruptor Bambie Thug (they/them/fae) is breaking down socio-political and gender stereotypes to create an era-defining sound that borders on elements of pop, rock, electronica and more.
Bambie Thug, who coined the term 'Ouija-pop' to describe his sound, has been making waves in recent years with a string of genre-defying singles and a critically acclaimed EP, 'CATHEXIS'.
Bambie represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with her spellbinding song 'Doomsday Blue', finishing in sixth place, the highest placing for an Irish act in 24 years. The song is about feeling like your potential is overlooked and an ode to the queer community. Sonically, the track transports listeners from alternative witch verses to murderous screams, pop choruses and a jazzy middle eighth, before culminating in a metallic roar of heavy, electronic guitars. It perfectly shows the different facets of Bambie Thug as an artist.
With visual art as striking as their musical breath, their witchy aesthetic and strong cinematic videos have seen them transform into otherworldly characters like 'HIM' from The Powerpuff Girls and a vampire bride.
No stranger to the big stage, Bambie has taken festival stages around the world by storm, including Download Festival, The Great Escape and Trans Musicales, to critical acclaim. Their spectacular performances have been described as “genre queer, occult-tinged and surprisingly theatrical” and have received ongoing global support from the likes of NME, Kerrang!, Rolling Stone UK, GAY TIMES, BBC Radio 1, Spotify, Amazon Music . and more.
