Barry Manilow returned to the stage at the London Palladium on Tuesday night (May 28) after canceling one of his farewell shows at the legendary venue on Monday following 'doctor's orders'. According Metro UKthe singer, 80, called off Monday night's concert with just hours to go, writing on Instagram: “Unfortunately, on doctor's orders, we have to cancel tonight's Barry Manilow concert on May 27th.”
Subway reported that hundreds of disappointed fans were queuing outside the theater when the news was announced. Although upset, the Fanilows showered the 'Mandy' singer with love in comments on the X post about the rescheduling, with one writing: “Good news, what a relief to know you're feeling better (if the doctor is ok, I” glad you can play today). You can count on me tonight for the other 10 gigs (evening and afternoon)' and another adding, 'I'm so glad to hear you're feeling better Barry. Have a great show with everyone tonight. I look forward to seeing you again on June 2nd. “Look no further here I am, I'm your man. You're what I've been waiting for here I am, I'm your man…” At the time of publication Manilow had not stated what ailment caused the show to be postponed.
Manilow is in the middle of a nine-show residency at the venue entitled The Last, Last UK Concerts? the series is scheduled to run through June 9. The setting is fitting because the London Palladium was where Manilow played his first UK gigs in 1978.
Earlier, announcing the Palladium series, Manilow explained: “In 1978, the London Palladium is where I began my love affair with the British public. These shows will be my last full concerts in Britain and I wanted to finish where I started – at the London Palladium.”
Before Tuesday's show, Manilow revealed that Monday's concert has been rescheduled for June 9 at 2:30 p.m.
