Beetlebug ended 2023 opening a new chapter for a growing community of fans, who have fallen in love with his gently escapist songs and stories of youthful coming-of-age experiences. The single 'until the end' demonstrated the artistic growth she had experienced since her previous releases almost 18 months earlier, while a headline posted on The Courtyard Theater showed that her online followers are also eager to make a connection in person. Now Beetlebug continues his story with the new single 'embers'.
Shining like a diamond in the dust, 'embers' complements Beetlebug's serene, dreamy songwriting with luscious yet still natural production. Filled with soothing, dazzling vocal harmonies, gently strummed acoustics, and twinkling percussion, the music provides a perfectly tranquil backdrop for its poignant lyrics. Its lyrics explore the feelings that arise when someone returns to your life as unexpectedly as they left. And while it's Valentine's Day, 'embers' is truly a song that can be applied to all relationship moments.
Beetle says, “'embers' is a song about rekindling; a celebration of a remembered tenderness that slowly evolves. “Navigate the warmth found within a connection buried by time only to be discovered once again, through shimmering vibraphones and nostalgic guitar melodies.”
As with the rest of their songs to date, 'embers' was written and produced solely by Beetlebug.
Beetlebug, whose real name is Auri Hanford, writes songs full of personality, quirks and class, and for the first time drew people into her distinct world with charming songs like 'Overgrown Garden' (perfect as an alternative unofficial soundtrack to 'Stardew Valley') and 'cat'. “serenade” (a romance seen from a four-legged, big-whiskered perspective). Her following emerged as naturally as her songs do, which has so far generated 16 million streams to date on Spotify, over 100,000 followers on YouTube and shows with Lovejoy, Henry Moodie and The Vamps.
Beetlebug has been playing music since childhood, and you can see how much it transports her to another place, whether she's caught in the moment playing her own songs or sharing comfortably cozy covers of songs by Beabadoobee, Maya Hawke, Kate Bush and Radiohead. You can hear hints of some of her favorite artists in her work—Gorillaz, Jack Johnson, Nat King Cole, Haley Heynderickx, Mac De Marco and Adrianne Lenker / Big Thief—but in reality, she is her own artist. : one with a pure and crystalline voice. that express a moving and otherworldly influence.
