Belushi Speed Ball didn't like Green Day's recent 30th anniversary release, “Demastered,” from their multi-platinum album. Dookie. So much so, that the crossover thrash band has released a “dookie” version of their single “This Is the Peak” over a piece of dog poop.
Last month, Green Day announced that they would release each of the 15 tracks on Dookie through unconventional and obsolete elements such as a Teddy Ruxpin, a Game Boy cartridge, a MiniDisc, HitClips, an 8-track and a Big Mouth Billy Bass, among other formats.
Belushi Speed Ball immediately accused Green Day of ripping them off and issued the following statement to Consequence:
“Here at Belushi Speed Ball Incorporated, we pride ourselves on the craftsmanship of our handcrafted merchandise items, which over the years have provided fans with albums on Super Nintendo, Gameboy Advanced, Nintendo 64, Sega Cd , VHS, Furby, Pizza, 8 tracks and Teddy Ruxpin. That we've worked our asses off to get the attention of the masses. And in one fell swoop, Green Day arrives and is instantly revered as innovative merchandising geniuses. Is this… is this what it feels like to be scammed?!? “Is this how Municipal Waste feels?!”
Now, Belushi Speed Ball has gone one step further and sung the song “This Is the Peak” on a piece of Labrador poop, preserved in a resin container. The “one of one” release is available through eBaywhere it has a maximum bid of $11.50 at the time of this publication.
Belushi Speed Ball singer Vinny Castellano stated about the original release (via Metal injection), “After the shock of Green Day's announcement. A fellow best friend, Scott McGovern, turned to me and said, 'Well, at least they didn't make Pizza!' And I jokingly said, 'We should release a song about Dookie.' AND THEN WE MADE IT HAPPEN!”
He continued: “We now offer the world the first single Dog Poop. You can hear us talking about Fantano's thighs through a steaming chunk of labrador feces. That we have preserved forever in resin. This is a 1 of 1 item from us that we will NEVER make again.”
The song “This Is the Peak” appears on Belushi's latest album Speed Ball, Stellkirawhich was released in May of this year.
