This is the 8th EP from Buffalo, NY, Benny the Butcher. Being in the game for 2 decades already, as of 2016, alongside his Westside cousins Gunn & Conway the Machine would take the culture away from projects like Tana Talk 3 & The plugs I met. Harry Freud was brought in for a sequel to the latter after the mature Burden of Evidence & finally, Tana Talk 4 took it back to the basement two years ago. I come in having Hit-Boy produce half of it and leaving the other half to The Alchemist to produce his Def Jam Recordings debut and my album of the year so far Not everyone can gonow we are treated Buffalo Butch just a few weeks after the previous EP Summer Butch.
38 Spesh's “Penny & Shaq” kicks off the short track with the 3 offering bopping around an over-the-top beat comparing themselves to Orlando Magic veterans Penny Hardaway & Shaquille O'Neal, while the For all dogs Outtake “Buffalo” featuring Drake finds the pair bonding over a sample-based instrumental from Boi-1da talking about the fact that it's more when you win it that you're sicker than the diseases that hate them. Finally, the closer “Hard Way” with Fabolous officially comes to an end Buffalo Butch on some boom bam shit, letting it be known that this magic shit ain't cheap at all.
We only got 2 EPs from Benny this month and 3 projects from him in 2024 in total if you include Not everyone can gobut i still prefer Summer Butch just because it's a bit bigger than Buffalo Butch though that's not to say I didn't enjoy the 3 songs he dug up for us here. Unlike the audience's summer theme 2 weeks ago, you only get 8 minutes worth of material, 16 minutes since the last one, focusing on Benny's hometown mentality.
