It is one beautiful week for Benson Boone as the American singer-songwriter scores his first No.1 in Australia, while Taylor Swift continues to dominate the national album survey.
Boone, a native of Monroe, Washington, tops the latter ARIA Singles Chartout Friday, March 8, with “Beautiful Things” (via Warner Music), rises 3-1 in its seventh week on the tally.
“Beautiful Things” leads the top three ahead of Beyonce's “Texas Hold 'Em” (Columbia/Sony), which holds at No. 2, and Swift's “Cruel Summer” (Universal), which is 1-3.
In the meantime, Stranger Things Frontman Joe Keery has his first top 10 in Australia with “End Of Beginning” (AWAL), released through his Djo music project. Released in 2022, “End Of Beginning” is enjoying a global revival thanks to a TikTok trend, climbing 14-9 on the ARIA Chart.
Fred Again tends to create hysteria in Australia, and has done so (again). The British singer-songwriter held a pop-up concert at the Sydney Opera House last month, setting a record for ticket sales en route to an instant sell-out. Then the surprise announcement of six arena shows and an outdoor pop-up concert, which changed 100,000 tickets in the blink of an eye. Outside of that frenzy, several Fred Again tunes climb the Australian tally, led by Baby Keem's “Leavemealone,” up 56-13 for a new top spot. His seven-date east coast run kicked off on Monday (March 4) at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena and will conclude next Thursday, March 14 at Sydney's Qudos Bank Arena.
Homegrown electronica producer Cyril scores his first 40 hit with “Stumblin' In” (Spinnin' Records /Warner) reworked version of Suzi Quatro and Chris Norman's '70s song, up 45-19. The original reached No.2 in 1979, and was co-produced and written by another Australian, Mike Chapman.
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift locks down the top 5 spots on the ARIA Albums Chart for a third consecutive week, with Lover (Universal) claiming the title for the first time in over four years, going 2-1.
Swift Sweep continues with 1989 (Taylor Edition) (via Universal), Folklore (Republic/Catholic), Midnight (Universal) and Reputation (Big Machine/Universal) respectively completing the top 5.
A handful of homegrown records enter the ARIA Top 50 on debut, including Mildlife's Choir (at No. 36 via PIAS/Inertia), by Donny Benét Infinite Desires (No. 46 via Donnyland Records/Orchard) and San Cisco's Under the Light (No. 47 via ICR/MGM).
