Better Lovers have released a new single, “The Flowering,” ahead of their upcoming North American tour.
The supergroup is made up of former Dillinger Escape Plan singer Greg Puciato, along with former Every Time I Die members Jordan Buckley, Clayton “Goose” Holyoak and Stephen Micciche, as well as Will Putney of Fit for an Autopsy. The band's debut single, “30 Under 13,” topped our list of the 30 Best Metal and Hard Rock Songs of 2023.

“The Flowering” has been in the band's live repertoire since their first concert, but is only now being released as a proper studio recording.
The verses are structured around breakneck riffs and fast tempos, slowing down to deliberate chugs for the choruses. Meanwhile, Puciato bounces between harsh screams and layered melodies, complementing the guitar arrangement. It sounds like a song written specifically for the live stage – a perfect pre-tour presentation.
“'The Flowering' is a song we've been playing live since day one,” Puciato said in a press release. “It comes from the same batch as the God made me an animal EP, so it's nice to finally have it recorded and available. It's a perfect example of how Jordan, Mitch, Goose and Will playing together sounds like a real freight train.”
He continued: “Being able to play this live so many times before recording it really amplified it even more, really deepened its groove, the music swings so fucking hard. Not to mention, the video is one of my favorite videos I've ever been in. The title and lyrics are an obvious metaphor for realizing that we are all more than what we are conditioned to believe and recognizing the collective moment of 'awakening' that we all seem to be going through right now.”
Better Lovers returned to the studio in January and recently finished work on their upcoming debut album for SharpTone Records. Additional details will be revealed soon, according to the band's press release.
Until then, the band will be on the road, kicking off their North American tour on April 18 in Indianapolis (get tickets here).
