Big Sean is the latest subject of a leak, after someone reportedly released a 14-track set that is said to be a version of the Detroit rapper's upcoming album. Sean Don wasted no time in responding to the leak, going on the attack as he teased one upcoming collaboration with The Alchemist on Wednesday (July 17).
“Starting to drop this new music before it all leaks soon BIG SEAN x THE ALCHEMIST,” he wrote in an Instagram post.
The accompanying clip finds Sean rhyming over Alchemist's soulful production, and they seem to have a visual ready to go with the rapper and producer kicking it in the grassy fields.
“Press the V and it ain't for a vendetta/ I'm as hungry as ever but somehow I'm fed up/ A smooth operator I could hook you up/ I only love a few, gotta protect you,” he raps.
Big Sean caused a stir on social media with subliminal bars from his “On the Radar Freestyle” on Wednesday, which some thought were shots at Kendrick Lamar, while others like DJ Hed hinted he bequeathed to Ye (formerly known as Kanye West).
“I talked to Sean. The bar was 'I got better things to do then find someone to beef with' And it wasn't for Dot,” Hed tweeted. “The bar appealed to a different Gemini.” (Ye's June 8 birthday makes him a Gemini.)
Big Sean was signed to Ye's GOOD Music label for 14 years before announcing his departure in October 2021. The move comes shortly after West called Sean's signing “the worst thing I've ever done” Drink Champs interview in November 2021.
One person online who goes by Bigseandon811 didn't seem to appreciate what he perceived to be disrespect to Ye in the freestyle, and took it upon himself to leak the album. Advertising sign reached out to Big Sean's representatives.
“Because he wants to disrespect Ye so much, here's the album, we call him and his whole team,” the leaker wrote, according toalbum-leaked-kanye-west-fan-1236076378/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”> Variety.
Variety also found the leaked files and reported that a track titled “Nintendo Switch Superstar” features the same Willie Hutch sample that Usher used on “Superstar”. Other guest appearances reportedly include Charlie Wilson and Brent Faiyaz.
Big Sean has scored three consecutive No. 1 albums atop the Billboard 200 in 2020 Detroit 2 serves as the final LP. He returned earlier this year with “Precision” and made guest appearances on tracks with Eminem and Jessie Reyez.
The 36-year-old will be able to call himself a writer in October when his Go higher here comes the book that promotes mental wellness. As for his untitled upcoming album, the project remains without a specific release date, but may be pushed back by recent leaks.
