Eilish opened up about her struggles with body image over the years in a 2020 interview British GQexplaining, “I never felt wanted. My friends in the past never made me feel wanted. None of that, and it's a big thing in my life that I've never been physically desired.”
She added that she often wears baggy, oversized clothes for this reason. I dress like I don't like to think about you – I mean anyone, everyone, if I judge it, or their size, but that doesn't mean I won't wake up one day and decide to wear a tank top, which I have done in the past.”
“Skinny” appeared on the multi-Grammy winner's third studio album, Hit hard and softwhich arrived in May. Upon release, the album peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 all-genre album chart and included additional hits such as “Lunch”, “Wildflower” and “Birds of a Feather”.
