Los Angeles-based artists Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg and Red Hot Chili Peppers performed at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games, as part of the handover of the Olympic flag from Paris to Los Angeles.
The segment was presented in true Hollywood style, with Tom Cruise receiving the Olympic flag at the Paris stadium, bringing it to Los Angeles and parachuting to the Hollywood sign. From there, the broadcast shifted to the artists performing on picturesque Venice Beach, starting with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who performed their 2002 song “Can’t Stop” and a 2022 song, “Eddie.”

Next up was Eilish, who gave a vibrant performance of her song “BIRDS OF A FEATHER,” from her recently released album. Hit me hard and softSnoop then closed out the segment in true West Coast style, performing “Drop It Like It's Hot” and “The Next Episode,” with an assist from Dr. Dre on the latter song. Speaking about the performances in a statement, Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games creative director Ben Winston said they would “showcase the heartbeat of Los Angeles, which like the Olympic Games, is where people come from around the world to pursue their dreams… showcasing the city's people, creativity, music and of course sport, all wrapped up with a little bit of Hollywood magic.”
Eilish's appearance comes after the release of her third studio album, Hit me hard and softlast May. She is then scheduled to embark on an extensive tour in support of the album, which will run through July 2025 with dates in North America and Europe. Get your tickets here.
As for Snoop, his performance was the highlight of his intense involvement in the 2024 Games, where he carried the Olympic torch, swam with Michael Phelps, gifted Simone Biles' father a Death Row chain and more. He even ran a 200-meter race during the U.S. Olympic trials.
Earlier in the broadcast, another California native, HER, sang the American national anthem live from Paris. Additionally, French band Phoenix performed with special guests Ezra Koenig, Air and more.
