Billy Idol recently released an expanded 40th anniversary reissue of his seminal album. Rebel Yelland to celebrate the occasion, he performed the classic theme song live on the NBC show. TODAY.
The performance is highlighted because Billy and his longtime guitarist, Steve Stevens, perform the song semi-unplugged. After an introduction by Al Roker, the duo are left alone on the soundstage, creating an intimate and close environment for the performance.

Stevens guides the song's arrangement with electric-acoustic strums that allow Idol's voice to soar imposingly across the room. The simplified approach not only fits neatly within the TODAY In the show's studio format, it also offers an alternative spin on an otherwise soulful rock anthem.
