Billy Joel is back with “Turn the Lights Back On,” his first new song in nearly two decades. He streams the single via the accompanying lyric video below.
Released on his longtime label, Columbia Records, the song was co-written with Arthur Bacon, Wayne Hector and Freddy Wexler, the latter also serving as producer. “Turn the Lights Back On” is also available on a limited edition 7-inch vinyl; get yours here.
Joel's last pop release was in 1993. river of dreamsfollowed by the classic collection Fantasies and delusions in 2001. Her last independent single, 2007's “All My Life,” reached No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Singles Sales chart.
Next, Joel is scheduled to perform at this Sunday's Grammy Awards for the first time in 22 years. After that, he will mark the end of his long residency at Madison Square Garden with his 150th show on July 25.
