The Black Keys' Patrick Carney has shared a cryptic message following the abrupt cancellation of the North American leg of their International Players tour and an “amicable parting” with their management team.
On Monday, Carney took to X, formerly Twitter, to write, “We got married. I will let you all know how to keep it from happening to you. Stay tuned.” It's not clear what he's referring to, but the band is making news with changes to both their schedule and representation.
In May, the Black Keys canceled the aforementioned tour, which had been scheduled for arenas and auditoriums through the fall, starting at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma on September 17. The dates were deleted from the band's social media pages and official website, with no further explanation.
Then last week, the Black Keys and their management team, Irving Azoff and Steve Moir of Full Stop Management, had an “amicable parting of ways,” according to a rep for Azoff. Azoff and Moir became their managers in 2021 following a split from long-time manager John Peets at Q Prime South.
A representative for the band declined to comment on Carney's tweet. An Azoff spokesman said Rolling rock in the initial statement and was not available for further comment. A representative for CAA, the band's booking agent, confirmed the band was still on its roster as of Monday.
Shortly after canceling their tour dates, the duo — Carney and Dan Auerbach — confirmed they were “alive and well” via an Instagram post and said they planned to revise the tour dates. “Following our recent run of shows in the UK and Europe, including stops at iconic venues such as Brixton Academy and Zenith in Paris, we've decided to make some changes to the North American leg of the International Players tour that will allow us to offer a similar exciting, intimate experience for both the fans and the band, and will be announcing a revised set of dates soon.”
As for their initial tour, they have one date left – their July 6 appearance at the NASCAR Chicago Street Race.
Their cancellation comes alongside the cancellation of other major tours including Jennifer Lopez This Is Me… Live tour.
