BLACKPINK has two billion reasons to celebrate this week, after the video for their 2019 Billboard Hot 100 No. 41 hit “Kill This Love” became the K-pop girl group's second visual to surpass the double billion mark.
“Kill This Love” now joins the quartet's 2018 hit, “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” atop that beautiful mountaintop. The video for the choppy, electro-pop “Kill” finds the quartet – Jenny, Jisoo, Lisa and Rose – backed by a towering wall of trumpets as the members traverse a series of impressive backdrops, including giant swans and a room whose walls are lined with colorful, fake cereal boxes emblazoned with messages of love.
Other scenes find Rose driving and crying all night and the whole team doing a dance routine in a collapsing room while dressed Lara Croft style Tomb Raider uniforms. The clip ends with the four dancing on the edge of danger while dancing in the jaws of a colossal bear trap.
The group made history at the time of the song's release when it became the highest-charting Hot 100 hit ever by a K-pop girl group at the time. Additionally, at the time the visual marked the biggest music video debut in YouTube history, racking up 56.7 million views in the first 24 hours on its way to amassing more than 100 million views in less than three days.
The group's membership has grown this year, with Rosé unveiling her first campaign with PUMA and Lisa being named the latest ambassador for Louis Vuitton, as well as her first concert in the upcoming third season of White Lotus and drops her collaboration with Rosalía on the song “New Woman”.
