BLACKPINK's ROSÉ is gearing up to release her first solo album on December 6, but before she takes the leap, the 27-year-old K-pop star says she got a little advice from one of pop's most successful soloists. ever do: Taylor Swift.
Just a few weeks before his arrival Rosie — ROSÉ's 12-track debut LP independent of her famous girl group — the performer opened up about the bond she formed with the 34-year-old “Anti-Hero” singer while at a New York hangout in a cover interview with identity published on Monday (November 18). “I told her I'm such a big fan and I just had a few questions,” she recalls of introducing herself to Swift. “As soon as he met me, he said, 'Come on, let me help you.'
The “APT.” The singer added that Swift “was so willing to help me” and even passed along her number as the two chatted during the gathering, which was hosted by producer Jack Antonoff at Electric Lady Studios. “Who does this? Well, you're Taylor Swift!” ROSÉ gushed after the fact.
“I'm really grateful to her, because I was in a moment where I was a little bit drowning,” the K-pop star added. “She's literally the coolest, and she's such a girl. He was telling me – “make sure you take care of this, this and this” – like, logistics. He was trying to protect me. Going solo, being independent, is not an easy thing. There are a lot of things that I have to be careful with, and he gave me a summary of all the things that I have to look out for. That was the coolest part – he killed it in the game and was kind enough to guide me.”
The interview isn't the first time ROSÉ has expressed her admiration for the 14-time Grammy winner, whose Eras tour show hit Tokyo in February. The girl group member then shared a five-minute video of herself singing along to Swift's rendition of “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” and wrote on TikTok, “The best 10 minutes in Tokyo.”
More than a year before that, Swift proved she's BLINK by using BLACKPINK's “Pink Venom” in a TikTok video while on her way to the 2022 VMAs, where the “Karma” artist would later announce her 10th studio album her. Midnight. That night, the show's cameras also captured Swift dancing to the same track that was playing over the speakers.
