Drumeo’s “For the First Time” series is proving so popular that it’s attracting artists from all over the entertainment world. The latest installment features artists Blue Man Group performing the My Chemical Romance classic “Welcome to Black Parade.”
As we’ve seen in previous editions of For the First Time, a drummer is challenged to play a song after hearing it for the first time. In previous episodes, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith performed a song by Thirty Seconds to Mars and teen sensation Nandi Bushell performed a Twisted Sister classic.

The company was so impressed with the “For the First Time” series that they reached out to Drumeo and asked to participate in the challenge.
Drumeo flew to New York City, where it challenged the three “Blue Men” and their musical director, Josh Matthews, to play My Chemical Romance’s “Welcome to the Black Parade.” At first, they listened to the song without the drum track, and Matthews took notes. Meanwhile, the Blue Men goofed around and did the silly things they’re known for during their stage performances.
When it came to playing the song, Blue Man Group used a variety of their percussion instruments and props, including PVC pipes, barrel drums, and more, while Matthews played a traditional drum kit. The result is an epic, grandiose rendition of the emo anthem.
