Bon Jovi has announced a new album, Forever, out June 7 via Island Records. The band also offered the video for the lead single “Legendary.”
The pop-country-tinged song is anthemic and positive, driven by major chords, “whoa-oh” choruses and the charismatic presence of Jon Bon Jovi. The singer has struggled with vocal issues in recent years, but his voice sounds clean on the verses while the rest of the band's backing vocals complement the song's chorus.
“This album is a return to joy,” Jon Bon Jovi said in a press release. “From the writing to the recording process, this is turning up the volume and feeling good, Bon Jovi.”
Bon Jovi celebrates its 40th anniversary as a band this year. In addition to the new album, a career-spanning Hulu docuseries, Thank you, good night: the story of Bon Joviwill premiere on April 26.
The four-part docuseries will chronicle the four decades of the band and its frontman Jon Bon Jovi, offering unprecedented access that includes “personal videos, unreleased early demos, original lyrics and never-before-seen photographs.” The series was produced by ROS, the banner of filmmaker Gotham Chopra (Kobe Bryant's muse, man in the sand, Tom against time), and edited and co-produced by Alex Trudeau Viriato.
Ahead of the release, fans can also purchase a reissue of Bon Jovi's 1984 self-titled debut album on vinyl starting March 24 (pre-order here).
As for the new album, Forever can be pre-ordered on vinyl (including limited signed copies), CD and cassette through Bon Jovi's official store.
