I've been kind of an undercover superhero, or something, I'd go to a bar and a song that I wrote would come on, and since no one has any idea that I co-wrote that, I was a part of it. It means a lot to me that people have connected with the songs I've co-written because I get to be a part of their story. I can be part of your coming of age. I've had people tell me that the song I co-wrote with Katy, “Roar,” helped them get through their divorce or, you know, inspired them to get in shape or fight cancer. People have very heavy stories associated with these songs, and that's why what I do is really connect with the fans. I mean, I really feel like I did this with the fans, like this album was curated for the fans, by the fans, and I feel like they've been with me every step of the way. They encouraged me. They chose the song and seeing it debut at #2 on the iTunes pop chart was incredible. I really didn't see it coming. Having my name right below Taylor Swift was amazing. So I'm incredibly grateful. I didn't expect that at all. I was happy to have published it, but having that kind of welcome debut, I thought, holy shit…
