Britney Spears has been declared legally single, seven months after her divorce from ex-husband Sam Asghari was finalised.
The star is officially single again, according to court documents obtained by People.
The ruling fell on Britney’s 43rd birthday, on 2 December, and is the legal conclusion in Britney and Sam’s divorce, which was finalised in May this year.
The couple separated in July 2023, just over a year after they married. Sam, 30, filed for divorce in August 2023, citing irreconcilable differences. They met in 2016 when Sam worked on Britney’s Slumber Party music video.
“The divorce was amicable and the prenup was not challenged,” a source told People earlier this year.
“Britney is continuing to flex her freedom and is moving on.”
At the time of their split, Britney wrote on Instagram, “6 years is a long time to be with someone so, I’m a little shocked but … I’m not here to explain why because it’s honestly nobody’s business !!!”
In November this year, Sam told People how he’s coping with life post-divorce.
“It was a blessing to be able to share life with someone for a long time, and people grow apart and people move on,” he said.
“I’ve always hated people leaving a certain relationship – and at some point they told each other they love each other and they sat at the same table and ate food (together) – so I never understood when people part ways (and) they talk badly about each other.”
He added, “That’s something I’m never going to do because I had nothing but an amazing experience and a great life, and that’s always going to be part of my life, a chapter of my life.”
