Canadian power metal band Unleash the Archers are back with a new album, ghosta concept album that combines massive melodies with thunderous rhythms and guitars.
Vocalist Brittney Slayes has been a fan of metal music since she was a child. She has fronted Unleash the Archers since 2007 and has seen it all when it comes to women in metal.
“He There was a fight for a while there,” he says. “People were like, 'Oh, cool, it's new to have a girl in the band.' It still feels like that sometimes… I'm not talking about any band in particular, but a band that plays something uninspired, that's been there, done that, death metal or something for years with a guy fronting it. the band. So they think, well, let's put a girl here. So Suddenly, they explode or whatever. So it's a shame that people can use this as a tool to get a girl in their gang. But it's definitely getting better.”
And he adds: “But for a long time it was like interviews and stuff, really stupid questions. What is it like to be a woman on tour? It's like, what's it like to be a guy on tour? What do you mean? Or why do you play heavy metal? And that's how it is, because I love heavy metal. What's so strange about that? So, it was a difficult moment. But now it's incredible. I love that there are all aspects too, because for a long time they were just vocalists.”
