Bruce Dickinson performed a two-night stand at the iconic Whiskey a Go Go in West Hollywood, California, marking his first solo concerts without spoken word in 22 years.
The last-minute “secret” concerts took place on Friday (April 12) and Saturday (April 13) and served as a warm-up for Dickinson's international tour supporting her new album. The mandrake project. A third warm-up concert in California is also scheduled for Monday night (April 15) at The Observatory in Santa Ana.

As we reported, Dickinson himself showed up Friday morning to work at the Whiskey box office, selling tickets to the short-notice concerts.
On Friday's opening night, Dickinson played a 15-song set with her backing band consisting of Dave Moreno (drums), Mistheria (keyboards), Tanya O'Callaghan (bass), Swedish guitarist Philip Näslund, and Swiss guitarist Chris Declercq (Dickinson's old guitarist). Guitarist and collaborator Roy “Z” Ramirez, who helped co-write The mandrake projectIt is not part of the tour schedule).
Bruce and his band performed many songs for the first time. Dickinson's previous solo cuts to be released include “Abduction” (from 2005). Tyranny of souls) and “The Alchemist” (1998s). The chemical wedding). And, of course, numerous songs from the new album were played for the first time: “Afterglow of Ragnarok,” “Many Doors To Hell,” “Resurrection Men,” and “Rain on the Graves.”
The second night's setlist was similar, although Dickinson included 1997's “Starchildren.” Birth Accident, marking their first live performance since the year of its release. The encore of “Book of Thel” (first performance of the song since 1999) and “The Tower” was also a change.
After the final date in California, Dickinson and company will head to Central America to kick off the international tour, which runs through July (get tickets here).
