Cooper added: “I once read that Nebraska is an album that gets you to the marrow of your bones. I could not agree more. Bruce Springsteen and Nebraska, in particular, had a profound effect on me and my work. Through themes of despair, frustration and the struggles of everyday Americans, Bruce has created an unparalleled legacy, painting an unflinching portrait of the human condition. Yet within the darkness, a sense of resilience and a sense of hope shines through, reflecting an indomitable spirit. This is the Bruce I came to know and love and will honor with this film. Warren Zanes' wonderful retelling of this chapter in Bruce's life is ripe for a film adaptation. This film has the potential to be a transformative cinematic experience, offering audiences a window into the soul of Bruce Springsteen and the universal truths that unite us all.”
Springsteen said it before Nebraska, his sixth studio album, is his most defining work. “If I had to pick an album and say, 'This will represent you 50 years from now,' I would pick Nebraska,” he said doBS Sunday morning in 2023.
