Bruce Springsteen's concerts in Marseille, Prague and Milan have been canceled on doctor's orders.
On Saturday (May 25), Springsteen canceled his show in Marseille, France, the same day the show was scheduled to take place. noting on Instagram that the delay was “due to vocal issues”.
“Bruce is recovering comfortably,” said an update posted on Springsteen's Instagram account on Sunday (May 26), but went on to announce that more tour dates have been postponed.
“Following yesterday's postponement in Marseille due to vocal problems, further examination and consultation has led doctors to decide that Bruce should not perform for the next ten days,” the statement said. “With this in mind, additional postponements are required for Letnany Airport in Prague (originally scheduled for May 28) and San Siro Stadium in Milan (originally scheduled for June 1 and 3).
The update said new dates will be announced, but ticket holders who want a refund can get it through their original point of purchase.
In March, Springsteen and the E Street Band resumed their world tour after a six-month hiatus due to the singer's battle with a peptic ulcer. The rock icon feared he would never perform live again.
“You sing with your diaphragm. My diaphragm hurt so bad that when I went to try to sing, it was killing me, you know?' he explained in an interview with E Street Radio. “Well, I literally couldn't sing at all, you know, and that went on for two or three months, along with a lot of other painful problems.”
Springsteen said, “I was, during it, before people were like, 'Oh, no. It's going to go away, and you're going to be okay,' you know, you're thinking like, 'Hey, I'm going to sing again?' and you know, that's one of the things that I like to do the best, the most, and right now I can't do it. You know, I can't do it, and it took a while for the doctors to say, “Oh, no. You'll be fine.' At first, no one was saying that, which made me nervous, you know, and at the end of the day, I found some great doctors and they straightened me out, and I can't do anything but thank them all.”
According to Sunday's update, Springsteen and the E Street Band are set to resume their tour in Madrid on June 12.
