Although BTS is currently on hiatus as most of its members complete their military service, the group is now teasing that a mysterious new project is on the way. And needless to say, ARMY couldn't be more excited.
The chaos first erupted when BTS tweeted a cryptic video on Tuesday (July 2) that featured a slideshow of photos showing two members of the group exploring the outdoors together. In one snapshot, they ride a shared motorcycle. In others, the couple goes snorkeling.
At the end, the symbols “?!” flash on the screen. “2024. 08. 08,” the band's official account wrote in its caption. “I'm coming soon.”
The tweet has already caused much excitement and confusion among fans, with one person commenting: “WHAT. IT DOES. THIS. MEANT?” Others, however, are sure they know exactly what the teaser video is all about. Based on the theme of the photos featured in the clip, many ARMY members are betting on a travel documentary centered around Jung Kook and Jimin, which they had previously indicated last year.
“EXCLUSIVELY A JIKOOK TRAVEL SHOW !?!?!?!?!?!?!?” One person wrote, referring to the pair's friendship by linking their names, a practice lovingly used across K-pop fandom.
“This is going to be my everything, my show of comfort,” another fan added. “My whole house.”
The travel series theories may be supported by a November episode Suchwita, the YouTube talk show hosted by BTS' Suga. At one point, Jung Kook made a guest appearance and revealed that he and Jimin had once discussed filming their adventures together around the world.
“On a shoot with Jimin many years ago, he said it might be fun to do a travel variety show with me and I agreed,” Jung Kook told Suga in the video, according to YouTube's English translation. “But it went nowhere after that. Then suddenly, they set up a shoot.”

Meanwhile, BTS is currently conscripted into the South Korean military – minus Jin, who finished his 18-month term in June. Several members have unveiled solo projects in recent months to keep fans entertained during the group's absence, with Jimin announcing his new album, Muse, in June.
