Camila Cabello has defended her music collaborator Drake after he was embroiled in a feud with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar.
The 27-year-old former Fifth Harmony star snagged Drake to appear on her fourth solo studio album, titled C,XOXO – with the Canadian musician featuring on two tracks.
Her album was finally released on Friday – but has been unleashed while Take Care singer Drake has been embroiled in an ongoing feud with Kendrick.
The two rap stars have been slinging insults at each other via diss tracks – and have made blistering accusations about their personal and professional lives in the process.
Camila has been disheartened by the vitriol being directed at her duet partner, telling The Times, “It’s so frustrating to see people talk about someone you know in a way that is negative. You’re like, ‘Dang, if only you guys could just have dinner or something.'”
The star, who used to date Canadian pop sensation Shawn Mendes, also explained exactly how she managed to tap Drake to work on her new record.
She sent a direct message to him via social media but admits she didn’t expect him to reply, saying, “It’s like a weird teenage thing where I feel that nobody cares about me or likes me. And it was fun to be proven wrong.”
Drake is not the only star to feature on Camila’s new record as Playboi Carti, Lil Nas X, JT, Yung Miami, and BLP Kosher all also feature on tracks.
