Camila Cabello and Kali Uchis to be honored at Billboard Latin Women in Music 2024, Advertising sign and Telemundo announced Thursday (May 23). The show will air exclusively on Telemundo on Sunday, June 9 at 9:00 PM ET, and will be available simultaneously on the Telemundo app and Peacock.
This celebration, which highlights the efforts of Latina female musicians who are “proactively working for positive change, inclusion and gender equality in the music industry,” will see the Cuban-Mexican megastar receive the Global Impact Award and the Colombian- American singer the Rising Star Award.
“Singer-songwriter Camila Cabello's success and contributions have earned her the Global Impact honor, which recognizes female artists who have an extraordinary ability to connect with audiences around the world, not only through their music but also by positively influencing popular culture, as well as serving as ambassadors of Latin culture on a global scale,” the official press release states, noting that the “Havana” and “Señorita” singer has used her voice not only to create big hits worldwide, but also to promote important issues that she likes. such as migration, diversity, mental health and women's empowerment.
Among other projects, Cabello has partnered with This Is About Humanity and the Miami Freedom Project to host community events for new immigrant families in Miami, and has raised half a million dollars with Equality Florida and Lambda Legal to fight harmful legislation in Florida targeting the LGBTQ+ community. She also launched the Healing Justice Project to provide mental health resources to BIPOC organizers across the country, promoting racial, immigrant, and environmental justice.
