Cardi B shut down the 2024 Met Gala green carpet on Monday night (May 6) in her massive black dress.
Several tuxedo-clad men pulled out Cardi's larger-than-life dress, completely covering the carpet at the bottom of New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art's famous steps. It's a fitting entrance considering the 31-year-old rapper was completely covered in black umbrellas earlier in the evening to hide her dramatic look ahead of the big reveal. Meanwhile, flashes of green added a nice pop of color to her chic ensemble, from her diamond and emerald jewelry to her green eyeliner to her classic razor-sharp nails.
This year's Met Gala celebrates the Costume Institute's spring show, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” with “The Garden of Time” dress code. Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya and Chris Hemsworth are this year's co-hosts.
“I feel like the Met Gala is almost like going to the Grammys,” Cardi said The Hollywood Reporter in a recent interview. “It's very nerve wracking and even though we make it look so easy, we really are so nervous.”
Cardi's latest solo single “Enough (Miami)” debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it her 12th top 10 hit on the all-genre song chart. He recently collaborated with Shakira, who also attended the Met Gala, on “Puntería.” The partners were was filmed arriving on the Met red carpet, holding hands and admiring their voluminous ensembles, with Shakira contrasting Cardi's red with black dress.
