The owners of The Caverns, a cave complex and concert venue in Tennessee, will no longer host the SVDDEN DEATH-curated music festival Summoning of the Eclipse, the DJ announced today.
The event debuted at The Caverns in 2022 and has since become one of the country's leading dubstep and bass festivals. Founder SVDDEN DEATH headlines the event annually.
The electronic music superstar, whose real name is Danny Howland, took to social media to lament the venue's decision “to no longer host” Summoning of the Eclipse, which will not take place in 2024.
“We've put on a safe and successful festival two years in a row,” Howland said. “I was the first DJ to play there and helped build the venue's well-deserved reputation as an incredible destination. I started Summoning as a celebration of the underground, to showcase my art and that of my friends and a place for us all to cultivate community.”
“It’s always been about fun and the art,” he continues. “To say I’m disappointed with Caverns’ decision to no longer host is an understatement. We look forward to continuing Summoning Fest in a different, more inclusive area in 2025.”
A representative for The Caverns did not immediately respond to a request for comment. EDM.comThe search for a new venue, Howland said, continues as he prepares for an upcoming headlining tour.
