CeeLo Green and Dallas Austin give Billboard an exclusive tour of James Brown's home in Augusta, Georgia, in partnership with Primary Wave.
CeeLo Green
Between you and me, I know I'm not the biggest James Brown fan.
Dallas Austin
Yeah.
CeeLo Green
I bet you don't know her highest charting hit.
Dallas Austin
I could say something like “Living In America,” just because “Rocky” was so popular.
CeeLo Green
That's good, but no, that's wrong. “I got you.”
What's up, folks? This is CeeLo Green, and I'm streaming live from Augusta, Georgia, with my older brother, Dallas Austin, and we are, believe it or not, on James Brown's property.
Dallas Austin
Wow.
CeeLo Green
And I'm here with Billboard and we're going to take it on tour. Let's go.
Dallas Austin
Wow!
CeeLo Green
Check it out.
Dallas Austin
Wow, this is crazy. So everything is left as is.
CeeLo Green
Yes, this is probably in addition to the entire property. This piece of archival history is probably the most important and meaningful to me, because it's right when you walk through the front door.
Dallas Austin
Was this the tree he put up the same Christmas he passed away? True?
CeeLo Green
Yes, James passed away in 2006, if I'm not mistaken, and the people who worked with him honored his legacy by leaving everything intact. This was very touching for me.
Dallas Austin
This gave me the creeps too.
CeeLo Green
And that inspired a song by Gnarls Barkley called “Who's Gonna Save My Soul Now.” Oh, yeah, yeah. I was talking about James Brown, yeah.
