While the 2024 Grammy Awards on Sunday night (Feb. 4) were full of surprises, perhaps none were bigger than pop icon Celine Dion's appearance.
Presenting the final award of the night – the coveted album of the year trophy – Dion took the stage at the Crypto.com Arena wearing a long, burnt orange coat with a large statement necklace. As the crowd cheered for her return to the limelight, the singer clapped right back. “Thank you all,” he said. “I love you right back. When I say I'm happy to be here, I really mean it from the bottom of my heart.”
As of December 2022, Dion has remained largely out of the public eye due to her diagnosis with Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder known for causing uncontrollable muscle spasms that make movement difficult. The 'Power of Love' singer was forced to postpone all her 2023 tour dates, before eventually canceling the rest of her tour altogether. Last December, Dion's sister Claudette revealed that Celine had “no control” over her muscles.
However, Dion showed no signs of weakness during her brief appearance at the annual ceremony on Sunday. Before presenting Taylor Swift with the coveted album of the year trophy, the “My Heart Will Go On” singer made sure to remind the artists in attendance to enjoy the moment while they were still at the Grammys.
“Those who are blessed to be here at the Grammy Awards should not take for granted the immense love and joy that music brings to our lives and to people around the world,” he said.
