Chappell Roan came ready for battle at the 2024 VMAs and didn't hesitate to stand her ground when confronted by a loudmouth paparazzo on the red carpet.
As Roan posed for photos in a medieval warrior-inspired outfit, complete with a velvet tunic, armored manicure, and literal sword, one paparazzo inexplicably yelled, “Fuck you!” Based on the available clips, it's not entirely clear what made the photographer react, or if his insult was directed at Roan, but the singer wasn't having it. She responded, “Yell f*** you! Don't do it. Not me, bitch.”
Asked about the exchange in an interview with Entertainment TonightRoan explained: “The carpet is horrible and I yelled at it. You can’t yell at me like that.”
Noah Kahan praised Roan expressed her support for the move on social media, writing: “I will never forget leaving Clive Davis and the horrible things that photographers and paparazzi or whatever were saying to me in front of my sweet mother who couldn’t believe what was actually happening. I love this way of standing up for yourself, @ChappellRoan.”
In recent weeks, Roan has spoken out about the need for firmer boundaries between fans, denouncing “predatory behavior” and “non-consensual physical and social interactions.”
