Move, Tchaikovsky, why Chapel Roan she struck her own knife Swan Lake while in operation The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday (June 20).
Taking on late night talk show's stage surrounded by lilies, the pop star performed her single “Good Luck, Babe!” while he was dressed head to toe in white feathers and a frizzy blonde wig, resembling the Princess Odette of the classical ballet. As the performance reached a fever pitch with the song's viral chorus, Roan crawled on her hands and knees towards the camera, flashing her long, white acrylic nails.
But Roan didn't stop there. The “Pink Pony Club” singer also sat down with host Jimmy Fallon for a quick chat interview. This time, dressed in a black bustier adorned with huge black feathers — showcasing Odile's black swan side to her show's Odette — Roan talked to the host about her humble beginnings in Willard, Mo., and talked about the name her: “Your favorite artist's favorite artist” from her performance at Coachella.
“That was a reference to Sasha Colby, and Sasha Colby said, 'I'm your favorite drag queen,'” Roan said, referring to the drag legend and winner of RuPaul's Drag Race season 15. “It just hit me in the heart. And so I hope one day Sasha Colby is watching me, and that's why I said it.”
The nickname has stuck with the singer. When Fallon revealed that he had Googled her earlier in the day (“You didn't know who I was before?” he snapped), a message appeared below the search bar that read: “You mean: your favorite artist's favorite artist.”
Roan clarified that she's not the one who put the suggestion on the site, but shared her theory about who was behind the message. “It's that random twink that works at Google, I know it is!” he said. “It's some assistant who said, like, 'We love her.'”
The star also opened up to Fallon about her recent successes, saying they've helped validate an opinion she's long held. “I feel like I've been right all along,” he said with a laugh. “I feel like, I already made it when people showed up to my concert a few years ago…everything else was a cherry on top.”
