Charlamagne Tha of God Be honest or die a lie the book tour stopped The view on Wednesday (May 23). While discussing the healing that needs to happen in hip-hop and for him personally, Breakfast Club The co-host was asked about Diddy's sexual harassment claims and the recently released video of him assaulting Cassie.
Charlamagne told Sunny Hostin that he should focus on spreading awareness about domestic violence issues and systems like patriarchy instead of “getting lost talking about celebrity” like Diddy, which he said takes away from victims.
“The issue is domestic violence. The point is exactly what I said about men who are not going to do the right job with themselves and they are dealing with a lot of pain and a lot of pain and a lot of unhealed trauma,” he said. “And they project that pain and that onto other people. The issue is patriarchy, right. As long as you have a system where men feel superior to women and face that pain and face that pain, we're going to continue to project that onto our women.”
Charlamagne continued: “But right now as I'm talking, there's a woman out there who's getting hit by a man and she's not going to get [any] news coverage. No one is going to talk about her.”
Diddy apologized after CNN published last week Combs physically assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a Los Angeles hotel hallway in 2016. The Bad Boy mogul was “disgusted” by his behavior and called the his actions as “unforgivable”.
“It's so hard to reflect on the darkest moments in your life, but sometimes you have to,” Diddy said. “I was upset. I mean, I hit rock bottom. But I find no excuses. My behavior in this video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in this video. loathe. I was disgusted when I did it, I am disgusted now.”
He continued: “I went out and got professional help. I had to go to therapy, to rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I'm so sorry. But I am committed to being a better person every day. I'm not asking for forgiveness. I am really sorry.”
